Shear forces in forward-backward stepping

Technical Details


Subject stepping repeatedly forwards and backwards (at the same frequency) between two AMTI force plates. Then stepping forwards and backwards at a faster frequency. Sampled at 250 Hz.







Questions

• Why is the AP shear force larger during the backward step?
• Why is the AP shear force larger during the forward step (i.e. the reverse of the above) when the subject steps at a faster frequency?
